Upon invitation sent by Mrs. Elizabeth Knight, interested women in La Cañada Flintridge met at her home in October 1912 and formed The La Cañada Thursday Club. At that time, meetings were held in the homes of members. The aim and purposes of the Club then were the same as they are today:  philanthropy, cultural and educational enrichment, social and community service, and fellowship. Today, the La Cañada Thursday Club is a dynamic community club whose membership includes over 200 women in La Cañada and its surrounding areas. Program teas and luncheons are held monthly, scholarships are awarded annually, and the organization offers many other activities and philanthropic and service-oriented opportunities for its membership and community members.

Our Mission

The La Cañada Thursday Club is a social, cultural, and philanthropic organization which was founded in 1912 to reach out to the community to assist charitable, non-profit groups and to further youth in their education.

Our Motto

“Nothing great was ever accomplished without enthusiasm.”

– Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Our Blessing

“We thank Thee, Lord, that gathered here we find; good companionship of mind with mind;
And that this food we share is doubly blessed
Because warm friendship is our constant guest.”

-Frances Hall Adams
